In October you have many types of food that are in season and a lot of these items are extremely nutritious. A few that I personal eat often because they are so nutritious is; kale, apples, broccoli, zucchini, spinach, mushrooms, and onions. Out of those, kale, spinach, and mushrooms are actually considered Superfoods. Why are Superfoods so important? Superfoods gives you the health benefits that no other foods on this earth can give you. For example; Kale, it has more iron per ounce than red meat and it's extremely high in Phytonutrients. One severing of kale provides, about 1300%of your daily value of vitamin K, 350% of your vitamin A and its even high in calcium, vitamin C, and manganese. But what you don't know is, that most Superfoods should be consumed organic.
Kale is on that amazing Dirty Dozen list that basically tells you the foods that are a must to eat organic. When on the DIRTY DOZEN list, those foods are very high in pesticides when harvested. The reason they are so high in pesticides is that they are in high demand. They are WANTED ALL YEAR AROUND and companies and people are demanding the products constantly. So the companies that harvest these items have to keep up with the demand. Even ORGANIC has been tested and has shown to have multiple pesticides. In my opinion, the best way to eat is, to grow the produce you like the most in your own soil. When purchasing at a store always try to stay with the produce in season, they are less likely to have far fewer pesticides on them. This is very important to your health. Pesticides cause tumors, cancers, hormonal imbalance and much more. In October, stay with this list to get the most for your buck.
