9-11 Never Forgotten

As we go about our day, please remember today is 9-11, today is the day that many lives changed forever. Today is the day many lives were lost and many were exposed to toxic chemicals, which then cause those lives to be lost later on. Many may remember today and many may have not even been alive yet. I personally remember today like it was yesterday. I remember being home from school sick, sitting on my parent's couch watching TV and all a sudden, watching the towers fall.

I will never forget that image, the image of many jumping out windows committing suicide because they knew they wouldn’t make it down the tower before being crushed or burnt to death. The imagine of thousands running in the middle of the city roads and running across the bridge to except the smoke and chemical dust. I was only 13 years old when this happened and I was watching many take their jumping out of the towers and many first responders running into these towers to try to save people they don’t know.

Those responders ultimately were taking their own lives going into the tower but not once did they think that. All they knew was, to save lives and that is exactly what they did and did for days to come. Many were even saved days later because of the firefighters, paramedics, emt's, police, and military. I remember hearing on the news that more people were found alive or even dead. But at least they were found and those families had some type of closer. But thousands were not found and those families just had hope. But unfortunately, those most likely died trying to escape or died on the impact of the planes. There are so many out there against our military and against our police officers and truly don't understand or care about what these people do for our country.

Today, shake a vet, firefighter, emt's, paramedics, police officer or anybody protecting our countries hand. Show your respect, put your opinions to the side. Regardless of how you feel about this country right now, shake a person's hand that protects your loved ones and you daily. Show your kids what respect is, stop showing them hate and ignorance. Show them that thanking all who served or still serve our country, is the right thing to do. I showed my daughter today, I parked on the side of the road and walked over to the crossing guard who has served and shook his hand. I thanked him for his service and told my daughter in the car what I did and why we do it. She is 5 and she even got it, let's start doing the right thing!
