What do we want in life?

To be honest, there are so many things I want in life and it’s hard to determine sometimes what I want the most. Anytime I think about this, I go through the 50 plus things I want in my life and the one thing I always want the most is perfect health for my kids and family. I have been through a lot in the past 10-15 years but nothing has ever compared to my children suffering from illness. Physicians have determined that their illnesses most likely came from genes, not my husbands. The thought of giving them something that could destroy their bodies breaks my heart.

Fortunately, for my daughter, her illnesses have passed for the time being. She may have issues with her immune system down the road but that can easily be controlled with lifestyle changes and or medication if needed. For my son, it's not the same case as of yet, but I’m determined to get him to optimal health. He has had his ups and downs, mostly downs this past year but we are so ready for him to be healthy again. The first year of his life, he wasn't ever sick and seemed to be okay, so we thought. But then, my aunt who was recently diagnosed with a blood disorder was told to have all family tested because it was genetic. So after testing both my kids, they both tested negative but unfortunately, Jonathan had other issues we were informed of.

He ended up being severely anemic and wasn't showing any signs of this illness. After many testings and being care for by a hematologist that studies blood disorders, we found out he was suffering from gut issues that caused the anemia. He had many other tests done and those results showed other issues but nothing was white black. So as a mother, I decided I was going to treat his gut with natural probiotics and lifestyle changes. He is one of the healthiest eaters I know and is on formulas to help the gut but for some reason still having issues. We were told by a functional medicine doctor that Jonathan's body is absorbing environmental mold and not absorbing even half the level of nutrients he needs daily. As a mom and a health coach, I just wanted to find that magic pill to make all this go away for him but that's not possible yet. What is possible, is finding the cause of these issues and one cause for him is our home or environment around us, according to blood work and how he looks physically.

After a year straight of trying new foods and new environments, we have determined that leaving our location is the right decision for his health. All I want is for my baby to be healthy. The fact that I’m a nutrition expert and I haven't been able to heal my son is devastating to me. I know I will heal him in time, but for now, I have to focus on relocating and changing our environment. Sometimes it has nothing to do with what your eating or your lifestyle choices. No, they do not help matters if they are bad choices but even if you live a healthy lifestyle, your environment is what controls your health. Don't stay in one location because your friends and family are there, find a location that you will strive in physically and mentally. This location hasn’t been good for anyone in my house, so its time to take that leap of faith and move on. There are too many people sick out there and just changing your home can change your life.
