There are plenty of people out there suffering from depression and I’m sure everyone’s depression comes from many different things. One being; a chemical imbalance, second; maybe from a tragedy that they were involved in or, third; from how they look physically. I’m not just talking about being overweight, I’m talking about something physical on their body that they can't necessarily change. I’ve been that person that has suffered from depression or low self-confidence. The moments in which I was the most depressed was, during and post pregnancy. After having a baby, your body has to change in so many ways and not many women can get their body’s back to the way they were prior to the pregnancy. I’m one of them. I will never look like I did prior to my pregnancies but I will look even better.
Well, what the hell does that mean? How can you look better if your body has changed? How can you come out of the depression state that you are in? It’s actually easier then it sounds. I suffered from depression especially after my second child was born because it was extremely hard for me to lose the weight and I had tons of stretch marks and I was always tired. I remember thinking every day, how can I change the way I look and change the way I feel. Most people just think, how can I change the way I look and never blame their physical appearance on the way they feel. Well, it took some time for me to acknowledge also that the way I looked is because of the way I felt. I wasn’t putting in the right determination because I was always trying to fix the body but not the mind.
Once I realized that I needed to fix the mind, the body quickly change. How I fix the mind was, eating the right foods. After having a child it is extremely difficult to change your eating habits from eating for two to eat for 1, especially if your breastfeeding. I was simply overeating and not eating the proper nutrition. First, I changed the foods I was intaking and stopped drinking as much wine as I was when I was depressed. Wine is healthy to a certain limit. And not all wine is healthy. I was drinking a glass a night and some nights drinking 2-3 glasses per night. Well, the chemicals itself in wine can cause depression, decrease metabolism and overall health issues. It all depends on the person to be completely honest. After a couple of weeks slowing down on the wine, I started to see a decrease in my weight and it motivated me to want to eat better than I already was eating. I’ve always eaten healthy but you can overconsume even eating healthy.
Nutrition and exercise is the key to depression. When you exercise and consume the right nutrition, your body will start healing itself. That sounds too easy, right? Well, it's just that easy. When you start to treat depression with medications, you're simply treating the issue, not the cause of the problem, which is a lack of the right nutrients. The right exercise and the right nutrition isn’t the same for all but there are simple guidelines to follow. The foods to avoid at all cost are; foods that are filled ANYTHING ARTIFICIAL. There are so many artificial ingredients out there and many “natural foods” to avoid also. Some foods are called “natural” but really are they! Eating the right foods will allow your body to heal physically and mentally. Exercising will speed up the process and make you feel stronger than ever. When you don't exercise, you're not allowing your body to get to its highest potential physically or mentally. When you exercise, your stimulating certain hormones in your body that help increase your energy levels improve your skin and increase overall brain/body health. When you don’t exercise, your body depends on 100 percent on nutrition and if you're not eating correctly your body is simply screwed.
Don’t you want to start feeling like a human again? Don’t you want to feel like a normal person and not just a mother or wife? What are you doing with your life? Don’t you have goals that you want to achieve? Changing your lifestyle can change your life. Once you change your lifestyle, you will never regret it. When I changed mine, I never looked back. Now, this doesn’t mean that I don't eat unhealthy sometimes and go out for the occasional beer. This just means that I have a certain lifestyle that I stick by 99 percent of the time. When I want to adventure out and have fun, I don’t regret it like most people because I don’t do it very often. Don’t be that person that lives with regrets or depends on medications. Be that person that lives a healthy lifestyle and also enjoys life. Be the better you and be the stronger you, mentally and physically.
