Organic saved our son

Our son recently was released from his hematologist treatment plan. He has been treated by the same physician since June 2018. He originally was screened for blood work due to my family having a genetic iron disorder, just for precautionary reasons. Not thinking anything of it, he actually tested negative for that disorder but positive for severe iron deficiencies. Quickly, he was referred to a pediatric hematologist that specialized in blood disorders and cancer. Then rechecked the first visit and his counts were even worse in only 1 month. The specialist that treated him believed in the pare

nt's opinion and was okay with holistic approaches as long as we only tried for a window of time. Once that time was up, the patient would go with her treatment plan. I quickly agreed and came up with a plan, with the physician's approval.

There’s a lot of people out there are simply not educated when it comes to nutrition. And when situations happen like ours, the parents are quick to go with the doctor's treatment plan. You need to be careful when going with the physician's opinion because that is exactly what it is. Its an opinion, medicine is practice and not all opinions are correct. I learned the hard way years ago with my own health problems. I always listened to physicians and never listened to myself until I become more educated about it. If this situation happened 10 years ago, I would of went with whatever the physician wanted to do for my son. Not evening knowing if that would have been right. Maybe whatever medication she wanted him could have worked but the long term effects would have been far worse.

The power of food is truly amazing, my son is living proof that food really works. But it needs to be the right foods. It must be organic, grass-fed, grass-finished, pasture raised, locally raised or grown if possible, no artificial ingredients and or chemicals. There is a reason why this is so important. I understand some may not be able to buy all their food in these forms but if you really want to or need to, you will. I was that mom that bought fruits/veggies but not always organic and there are some you can get away with not be organic but again “getting away with”. But when buying certain produce items it's very important to buy organic especially if your child or yourself are suffering from illness. The body doesn't process chemicals and if your body is fighting an illness, the body will struggle 3 times as much if not more.

Once we finally said OKAY to organic everything for my son, there was a change in his body pretty quickly. There are even local farms you can purchase from that are basically organic but don’t state it for other reasons. You just have to ask around in your community or go to local farmers markets. That's how we found our produce because we were new to the area and didn't know anybody here. There are also, companies in the United States that will deliver, or if you live by a Walmart that is a great place to go for organic items. Don’t think you can't afford it if you're truly needing those foods. WE thought we couldn’t afford it until we had no choice but we quickly realized that we can afford it. There are stores that are fair in pricing and you simply might need to eat a little less every day. The right foods will fuel your body and you won't need as much anymore. If you stay away from chemicals and artificial ingredients your body won't continue fighting itself and won't feel it needs as much food. My son eats A LOT and I’ve learned that giving him certain foods like bananas will fill him quicker and keep him full longer. So when in doubt buy as much organic produce as possible.
